Look Your Best Your Way!

Look Your Best Your Way!

We all want to look our best, and the quest to do so can be an excruciating experience, especially for young women who are subjected to tremendous amounts of pressure by society and media in regard to their appearance. We believe that while it is important and fun to feel cool and stylish, it’s critical to do so without sacrificing our own unique tastes and personalities. Being conformist is boring, so let’s consider some of the ways we can express ourselves in our own way, and look and feel fantastic in the process!

  • Hair Let’s start right at the top, shall we? Our hair is one of the first things we humans look at when we see each other, and having a great hairstyle that suits us lends confidence. No two heads of hair are the same, they are as unique as our fingerprints in texture and colour. It’s a funny fact that people who have naturally curly hair tend to want it to be straight, leading them to search for the best hair straightening brush in Australia, while those with straight hair want it to be curly so they endure a long, smelly perm session in the salon! Want a different colour? Go for it, dye it to your heart’s content! The main thing is that your hairstyle reflects your inner self in a way that pleases you first, and if you achieve that it’s bound to please everyone who sees you, too!
  • Makeup Unlike hair, this is a case where it’s important to accentuate what you have naturally rather than try to dye your face a colour that it wasn’t meant to be! Choosing the best makeup for your unique skin tone will enhance your natural beauty instead of making you look like a painted doll, or worse yet, a clown! Be sure to invest in high quality beauty products that will bring out your best features, but are not so expensive as to break your budget, there is always a sweet spot between glitzy and sensible! Find a foundation that suits you, then add your mascara and lip gloss judiciously until you achieve just the right amount of allure without overdoing it. Most of the time, less is more!
  • Clothes There are always going to be trends, and it’s hard not to follow them, but only do so as far as you feel comfortable and know that you are using them to express yourself, and not as a means to conform. While we are not what we wear, clothes are the cover to our body’s book, and yes, people will judge you by them- it’s up to us to not let those judgements overrule our own sense of self. To get started, take a moment to study the way people you admire dress, and instead of asking what it is about their clothes that makes them special, ask what it is that’s special about them that their clothing choices help accentuate.

The Australian Department of Health and Aged Care has issued guidelines regarding the health claims of certain beauty products, so check with them for further info. We hope this inspires you to look and feel your best, your way!
